Our job as good neighbors is to be there for one another and to work together to affirm the dignity entitled to every person as a child of God. Who is My Neighbor?

How did Jesus respond when Peter asked how often he should forgive? Explain that Jesus used this high number to teach that we should always forgive others. Why is it sometimes difficult to forgive? How have you been blessed as you have forgiven others or been forgiven by them? To further emphasize the importance of forgiving others, Jesus gave the parable of the unmerciful servant Matthew — Whom do the king and servants represent? The king represents Heavenly Father, and the servants represent us.

See Matthew — What are some of the dangers of not forgiving others? Read and discuss Luke — Display the picture of the good Samaritan. How did Jesus respond to the lawyer who asked what he should do to inherit eternal life? See Luke — How do the commandments to love God and our neighbors encompass all of the gospel? How can we obey these two commandments more fully? What does this parable teach about who our neighbors are?

What are some reasons we do not help others in need? See Mosiah —19 for one example. How did the good Samaritan help the man who had been robbed and wounded? What characteristics of a good neighbor did the Samaritan have?

Challenge class members to live these teachings. The following material supplements the suggested lesson outline. You may want to use one or more of these ideas as part of the lesson. Have a class member read Luke — How was Martha serving the Lord? What can we learn from these verses? See Mark What did Jesus tell his disciples?

See Mark — What does loving our neighbor look like in real life? Who is our neighbor? Who do you see? Our neighbor is anyone that we can help.

Perhaps a neighbor, whoever that might be, would reach out for help today. What would be your and my response? The best thing we can do for our neighbor is to love them, and the love of God should compel us to share Christ with them. We need to let them know that God demands perfect righteousness to enter the kingdom, but God provides what He demands through Jesus Christ.

Who else is sinless, perfect, and completely holy? There is no reconciliation between us and God without Jesus Christ Acts Telling your neighbor that is the most loving thing you could ever do.
